Classical Feng Shui
Beyond the Art of Placement
Classical Feng Shui is a time proven practice that identifies and manipulates the subtle and cyclical energies in a given environment effecting human physical, mental and emotional balance.
The basis of classical Feng Shui is rooted in the Chinese ageless classic, The I-Ching, the foundation from which well-established practices of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture, and Pharmacopoeia have emerged. Classical Feng Shui is yet another branch of study formulated from this classic compendium.
Classical Feng Shui evaluates the energy in an environment and its effects on its occupants. While the I-Ching addresses numerous and various forms of energy, the study of Feng Shui is concerned with three primarily energy forms or fields. The first field is classified by the I-Ching as “Jing” – energy emanating from earth and other large rotating bodies of cosmic mass (stars and planets). The second classified field is “Chi” or the human energy field – energy intrinsic with human meridians, charka systems and luminous fields. Since both types of energies are understood to move in reoccurring cycles and adhere to set patterns, the application of Classical Feng Shui can be both historic and predictive. As such, Classical Feng Shui often identifies situations in the past, present and future. The third relevant energy field is “shen” – energy of the mind and intention.
Aspects of Classical Feng Shui addresses physical well-being, mental and emotional balance – which aids in personal achievements, as well as financial and relationships successes. It also identifies specific preponderances of human behaviors and situational outcomes. Its goal is to neutralize undesirable effects while enhancing desired effects for an individual occupying a given environment

How Does It Work?
Eastern Vs. Western Thought
It's All About The Energy
The first law of physics states, “energy can neither be created, nor destroyed, only transformed.” Western physics state that mass is energy and visa versa; likewise, all analysis in Classical Feng Shui is viewed as energy. It is a study of these energetic cycles of mass within an environment (jing) and its effect on its human occupant’s energy field (chi & shen). Dense mass is the grosser, slower, and heavier aspect of energy. It is predictable and adheres to immutable laws of conduct. Moreover, dense mass (jing) - such as inorganic matter, has an effect on mass that is less dense – organic physical matter (chi) and mental-astral energy (shen). Using unique time-space formulas, Classical Feng Shui evaluates the energy confluence of occupant (Chi & Shen) to environment (Jing), and then produces a prognosis.
Note: Most Feng Shui published English texts do not differentiate between “jing” and “chi” and “shen," but generalizes all energies as “chi” energy.
An Holistic Approach
Foundation
The theories behind Classical Feng Shui are found in the I-Ching. While the west evolved with material-reductionism logic, the east developed its own set of protocols and reason to formulate an understanding of the universe and hence, uncovered its own immutable laws of reality effecting human existence. Moreover, both systems are not mutually exclusively. Recently, western theoretical physicists have “discovered” binary mathematics and genetic codes buried in the I-Ching - a text with a five thousand year history. Concepts found in the I-Ching are validated everyday with thousands of doctors around the world using Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine therapies successfully. Again, the same body of work applies to Classical Feng Shui.
Trust the Process
Tools of the Trade
First, a “Luopan” or Chinese compass tool is used to orient and identify the energy patterns and cycles of a given environment. Second, a thorough examination of all physical structures influencing its field is performed. Third, Classical Feng Shui prescribes “corrections” that often incorporate elemental five-phase enhancements or remedies (fire, earth, metal, water, wood), the principles of yin and yang, along with strategic placements of physical forms within its field. Because of these specific techniques, Classical Feng Shui is sometimes referred to as the “compass” school. Directional attributes - such as plot plan, energy cycles influencing construction days, physical object’s geometrical planes relating to energy conductivity are among the time-space factors that help pinpoint the relevant energy patterns existing in a given location. Analyzing these time-space results identify the effects that prolonged exposure to these extremely subtle energies have on broad and specific human conditions.
What Can Classical Feng Shui Do For Me?
The proper application of Classical Feng Shui can maximize the individual’s potential for achieving personal goals (shen), and maintaining health (chi) and relationships (shen). It can facilitate individuals to make “proper decisions” at critical times, which often translates to successes in finances, relationships and health. It is an added consideration an individual can use to make the most of his abilities in fulfilling his life’s purpose.
Not All Feng Shui Schools are Created Equal.
True Classical Feng Shui does not employ devices such as “hanging flutes,” “sashes or ribbons,” “mirrors,” or “crystals,” as sometimes prescribed by the Black Hat sect of Feng Shui. Nor does Classical Feng Shui identify settings with boilerplate explanations for the “money corner,” “marriage corner” or “health corner” and apply the same directional coordinates and explanations to all homes and offices as often dictated by “new age” Feng Shui.
Classical Feng Shui uses formulas and protocols found in the I-Ching to identify the fluid nature of energy and analyzes the specific conductive energetic properties within an environment in relationship to its occupants. Moreover, since each occupant has a unique and particular energetic imprint, Classical Feng Shui also analyzes the specific energy cycle of each occupant in relationship to the environment.
Remember, caution is in order if a feng shui practitioner uses pre-set directional coordinates or promises hyperbolic outcomes.
The application of proper Classical Feng Shui is to help occupants maximize his/her innate potential.
